Waterlogged Jemima!

Jemima, our mother-to-be duck at our sister park, Wheelgate in Mansfield, decided to start her family in a large planter in the middle of Goat Gruff farm and has been getting a lot of attention from both visitors and staff!

Unfortunately, with the endless heavy showers, her new home is fast becoming waterlogged and she is struggling to keep her eggs warm and dry…

After sitting on 11 eggs for the last three weeks, with only 10 days to go until they are due to hatch, Simon came to the rescue with some much appreciated temporary shelter, an umbrella!

Click the following link to preview a short clip of Jemima and her soon to be brood! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OowI9XqJ0H0

To ensure that Jemima and her family remain comfortable throughout the torrential rainfall, staff at Goat Gruff farm have decided to come to the rescue with a toddlers playhouse, providing enough shelter to keep the little family out of the rain!

Keep posted for some exciting pictures of Jemima’s new playhouse, coming soon

Red Rooster Zoo Farm’s New Arrivals Settle In

The most recent additions to the Red Rooster Zoo Farm seem to be settling in to their new home.

Staff at the farm created a new enclosure for our Porcupines, which they certainly seemed relaxed in! After a long week of showers they seem to be enjoying basking in the warmer weather, especially after a long day entertaining our visitors!

Here at Twinlakes we love having new breeds of animals to add to the large variety we already home.

Group Experience Terrifying Treat!

At this time of year Twinlakes provides all action, all weather fun to lots of different groups who are looking for some light relief towards the end of the school term!

Today, a group from Huntingdon took up the opportunity to get an added extra experience!

The doors of one of our Halloween attractions ‘The Farmhouse of Fear’ opened to this unexpecting group of youngsters to give them a taster of the future Twinlakes Halloween activities.

Did they brave the corridors of darkness or were they spooked by the story of the Scarecrows??

‘It was dark, bit scary. You didn’t know what was coming…’

‘It was exciting to go through…thought it would never end’

‘Quite exciting…thought something would pop out at any minute’

‘Was really scary…banging noises and skeletons…amazing sound effects’

Dare you join us for some Halloween Horrors??

Halloween events run between 20th Oct-2nd Nov.

Spiky Visitors!

Being located on the outskirts of a country town we often get to spot some amazing wildlife and today was no exception! Rangers this morning found some unusual visitors whilst checking the park.

Down in Action USA our staff spotted a family of hedgehogs by the Buffalo Stampede ride exploring the grass range.

Mummy Hedgehog scurried off on her way but we were quick enough to get a snapshot of these two cuties!

Runaway Al updater: feeling glum

Little fugitive piggy Al has had a very busy and hectic week this week with the trauma of losing his mummy and ending up in the alpaca pen at Wheelgate Family Theme Park to the masses of press and media attention is a desperate plea to return the little fella home.

He has been one popular little piggy.

But still the search continues and still no sign of mummy.

On a positive note staff at Wheelgate Park are happy with the little chappies health and he is feeding well off the bottle.  He seems to be settling into his new home very quickly and is very popular amongst staff and visitors.
